Workshop in Croatia (Rijeka)

Collaborative Training Center (CTC-Rijeka) of the University of Rijeka organized, on 27 and 28 January 2011, at the Faculty of Engineering in Rijeka, a Workshop called "Innovations in engineering design", within the realisation of the Tempus project WBC-VMnet.

The aim of the Workshop was to review the possibilities of knowledge innovation in modern development and production, using modern approaches to developing and manufacturing such as the development and production computing environments (CAM / CAM / CAE), or the application of additive manufacturing processes for the development of prototypes, parts, tools and finished products (Rapid Prototyping - RP, Rapid Tooling - RT and Rapid Manufacturing - RM). The focus of the Workshop was on the areas of industrial design, modeling, reverse engineering, additive manufacturing, design, analysis, optimisation of technological processes and increase quality. As a contemporary development generally requires an interdisciplinary approach, so the topics of lectures at the Workshop covered various areas of engineering and electronics and their application in other areas such as medicine.

The Workshop was attended by 84 participants on the first day and 58 participants on the second day, from many enterprises/institutions, research organisations. Company managers, development department employees and relevant academic representatives have expressed great interest for all presentations.
