UNIVERSITY OF KRAGUJEVAC (UKG) - Grant Applicant, Serbia, www.kg.ac.rs .The University of Kragujevac was founded in 1976. Today UKG has grown into a modern HE institution embracing almost all major areas of teaching and research, presently comprising 11 faculties with the student population of 14 000 and the academic staff of 1000. UKG offers a wide range of study programme on undergraduate and advanced levels. The intensive and successful research work is based on highly educated and well-experienced academic staff who have remained open for various kinds of research cooperation within national and international projects. UKG also upgrades its international cooperation by its membership in the International Association of Universities, CEI, Central European Exchange Program, European Association of International Education, Balkan University Network, Danube Rectors’ Conference, etc.
Mechanical Engineering Faculty Kragujevac (Coordinator) as education-scientific institution with 8 departments, 24 scientific centres and 9 laboratories, takes an active part in realization and coordination of many national and international projects: over 100 national projects, 2 EUREKA, 1 COST, 2 FP6, 8 TEMPUS, 20 WUS, 5 bilateral and 5 EAR.
The Centre for Virtual Manufacturing (CeVIP) has the unique equipment and software in Serbia for application of VM technologies in product and process development. Research areas span through methods of numerical modelling of processes and its optimization, FE application and software development, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, and virtual reality applications. CeVIP has established VMnet network for transfer of knowledge and technologies from R&D institutions to Serbian enterprises and SMEs (so far 330 members).
VMnet connects Universities and Institutes, as integrated knowledge capacities, with Serbian enterprises and SMEs in the area of metal and non-metal (plastics, wood) processing. During last year, CeVIP signed 7 new technical-business contracts with Serbian enterprises and 20 contracts on development and short-term services. Several trainings and workshops have been realized for domestic companies. Project Coordinator, dr Vesna Mandić is experianced in realization and management of EU projects. She has participated and managed 8 EU projects (TEMPUS, EAR, FP6, WUS, bilateral).
